The Presidential Dialogues

TheHealthPsychologist From the President

Greetings SfHP colleagues:

I am honored and delighted to serve as the Society for Health Psychology President.  Our 3000 members are involved in vital health psychology research, education and training, clinical services, advocacy and leadership in public and private sectors across the globe. We are also front and center in supporting patients, families, health care workers and health systems facing COVID and its far-reaching consequences. Members are also engaged in pressing research on health equity and strive to reduce disparities in Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and other marginalized communities.  Our first SfHP Presidential Dialogue includes an interview on health equity with Jennifer F. Kelly, PhD, ABPP, President Elect, American Psychological Association.

While we missed our in-person APA Convention in August, 2020, we hope that you have continued to enjoy so many dynamic presentations on pressing issues in health psychology.  SfHP members are actively working on virtual programs throughout the year for our membership and during the APA Convention August, 2021.  Members are encouraged to submit symposium by 1/12/2021 through:   https://convention.apa.org/proposals

The SfHP Executive Committee wishes all of you a Happy Thanksgiving!

Cordially,

Helen L. Coons, Ph.D., ABPP
SfHP President
