Clinical and Research Awards for Post Docs

 

 

Apply to the SfHP Early Career Professionals and Student Council’s clinical and research awards for members in postdoctoral training!

The application process for both awards will open April 2021. At that time, more information and guidance on scoring criteria will be available. Applications are expected to be due in June 2021 with results announced at the APA Convention in August 2021.

Postdoctoral Health Psychology Research Award

This award supports research related to any topic in health psychology and may include new proposed studies or analysis of existing data. Applicants may propose funds to support new research aims which add to or supplement existing studies or grants.

Amount: $2500

Number of awards: one (1)

Eligibility:

  • Have a confirmed postdoctoral appointment or have proof of upcoming enrollment into a postdoctoral training program at the time of application submission
  • Current member of the Society for Health Psychology

Application Requirements:

  • A one-page cover letter
  • Curriculum Vitae or NIH Biosketch
  • A research proposal covering aims, background, significance, and approach. Excluding references but including tables and figures, proposals should not exceed 4 single-spaced pages.
  • A brief (one paragraph or table) budget and budget justification

 

Health Psychology Award for Clinical Excellence

This award recognizes excellence in postdoctoral residents who are committed to clinical health practice and who intend to be board-certified specialists in clinical health psychology.

Amount: $380

Number of awards: six (6)

Eligibility:

  1. Current enrollment in a postdoctoral training position or have proof of upcoming enrollment into a postdoctoral training program at the time of application submission
  2. Completed the EPPP exam to be eligible (individuals are not eligible for this scholarship prior to completing the exam)
  3. Current member of the Society for Health Psychology

Application Requirements:

  1. Curriculum Vitae
  2. Cover letting addressing eligibility and career plans in clinical health psychology after licensure
  3. A one-page essay describing how the applicant believes their training reflects one of the eight foundational competencies in clinical health psychology, emphasizes how this competency has been applied to health psychology clinical practice, and how they will incorporate this competency into their clinical health career.
