Boston Children's Health Physicians

Located in the suburbs of New York City, Boston Children’s Health Physicians and New York Medical College is looking to fill an Assistant Professor level Psychology position within the interdisciplinary division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Stem Cell Transplant. This psychologist will have a focus in Oncology and bone marrow transplant in children, adolescents, and adults. They will also see patients in our benign hematology and neuro-oncology clinics. Typical clinical activities include psychosocial and psychodiagnostic assessment and individual or family psychotherapy. Psychologists are expected to round during team meetings and on the inpatient unit when able to do so. Teaching is an integral part of the position, with expectations to supervise trainees in psychotherapy as well as participate in interdisciplinary teaching with medical students, residents, and fellows. A faculty appointment and participation in academic pursuits at New York Medical College is expected. Support is provided to develop one’s research program should there be interest. The opportunity to teach courses as part of Touro University’s PsyD program with a health emphasis is also available for additional pay.

 

Qualifications:

–          Applicant is required to have a PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited institution and have completed an APA accredited internship with extensive experience in health populations and behavioral medicine. Applicants must also have completed their postdoctoral training hours.

–          Prior experience with hematology/oncology and/or transplant populations is preferred.

–          Knowledge of neuropsychological assessment (testing not a part of this position, but the ability to interpret results as needed is appreciated).

–          Interest in clinical research is recommended.

–          Licensed or License eligible in NYS. Those who have completed their doctoral degree but still need supervised hours for licensure will also be considered.

–          Spanish speaking providers encouraged to apply.
