Boston Children's Hospital
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Boston Children’s Hospital invites applications for a full-time researcher dedicated to discovering how sleep, genetics, physiological, and neuroendocrine factors influence the risk for developmental psychopathology, providing insight into the underlying biological mechanisms, and assisting in the tracking of improvement across treatment. Appointment at Harvard Medical School is expected at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor, commensurate with experience, and requires ongoing teaching of Harvard learners, residents, fellows and postdoctoral fellows. Candidates are expected to be interested in pursuing research in the neurobiological underpinnings of risk for, and recovery from, developmental psychopathology and defining the biological basis of developmental psychopathology, with specific attention to trauma and racial disparities. The successful candidate will join a community of researchers with similar interests in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, in the Translational Neuroscience Center, and in the Brain, Mind and Behavior Center.
Applicants must possess an MD, MD/PhD and/or PhD (or equivalent) in psychology (and related fields) or neuroscience and have at least two years’ postdoctoral experience or the equivalent. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of clinical research and scholarship and be poised to build a successful, independent and collaborative, extramurally funded research program. A track record of NIH independent funding is not required, however candidates are expected to have evidence of successfully obtaining foundation, internal, or other pilot research funding awards. In addition to research, the candidate is expected to be committed to teaching and mentoring, health equity and equitable research practices, scholarship, collaboration, and demonstrate willingness and capacity for transdisciplinary collaboration.
Applicants should send a personal statement with research interest and Curriculum Vitae to electronically to Cleo Hereford, Administrative Manager, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (cleo.hereford@childrens.harvard.edu). All inquiries are confidential. Candidates will be reviewed in mid-May 2024 and reviews will continue until an appropriate applicant is selected.
