The fellowship provides the opportunity to develop expertise in perinatal mental health through our specialty embedded psychology program. The fellowship additionally provides flexibility to tailor training to the fellow’s specific interests within perinatal mental health and women’s mental health more broadly.
CWEW offers specialized psychological services to individuals who are pre-conception, in pregnancy, in the postpartum period, and after perinatal loss. This includes provision of both ambulatory and inpatient behavioral health consultations and on-going psychotherapy services. Through these services, the fellow will learn about educating individuals with behavioral health issues during these reproductive phases and about providing recommendations for their care. Consultations allow the fellow to see a larger variety and volume of presentations, while ongoing psychotherapy services allow focused intervention with the perinatal population. The fellow will also have the option to co-lead a perinatal group and participate in assessments and consultations related to Assisted Reproductive Technology practices and patients considering egg-donation.
The fellow will work within a dynamic, engaging, and supportive multidisciplinary practice, comprised of Psychologists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Mental Health Therapists, Psychiatrists, and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners.
Multidisciplinary faculty and staff add breadth and experience to the didactics in women’s mental health. Reproductive mental health didactic opportunities include case conferences, Psychiatry and OB/GYN Grand Rounds, journal club, and peer-supervision.
Fellows are encouraged to explore academic projects related to perinatal mental health along with the perinatal team, and the reproductive psychiatry program provides rich clinical environments for academic projects. Lastly, the fellow will have the opportunity to teach trainees, including psychology externs and interns, and to supervise psychology externs and psychiatry residents on perinatal psychotherapy cases.

Program Overview
Fellows work approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, and will spend 50-75% of their time in face-to-face direct service delivery. Our perinatal mental health fellowship is a full-time, one-year program (minimum 1,500 hours) and designed to meet the licensure requirements for post-doctoral supervised practice. There may be an opportunity for remote work.
In addition to clinical work, our fellows participate in weekly post-doctoral meetings. This time is dedicated to post-doctoral didactic training, group supervision, and professional development. Each fellow is expected to complete a scholarly project which allows for the fellow to dive deeper into clinical interest areas of research, quality improvement, community outreach or program development.
Fellows receive a minimum of one hour of individual supervision for every 10 hours of direct clinical time by a licensed psychologist. Track specific group supervision, specialty didactics and Behavioral Heath Grand Rounds are also offered. Fellows also join our faculty in providing supervision, training and didactics, case conference and journal club for psychology interns, externs, and psychiatry fellows.
