Both positions will be joining a thriving and well-regarded Psychology Department as well as closely connected with the robust and growing Whole Health service. In addition, the CMCVA is home to five VA Centers of Excellence and is adjacent to and closely affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania, offering an atmosphere of rigorous academic research and clinical applications. In recognition of our diverse Veteran population, our Psychology Department strives to approach patient care through a lens of cultural humility. The opportunities provided by the interprofessional Behavioral Health Diversity Team and Psychology training program assist providers in growing their cultural competence as well as engaging in self-reflection.
While the VA, the Psychology department, and Whole Health team are all great draws for this position, the city itself also has significant appeal. Have you been to Philly lately? The city is an exciting hub for education, culture and diversity. With a wealth of American history, active art community, sports teams, and cuisine, Philadelphia also boasts the world’s largest landscaped urban park. Philadelphia is centrally located in the Northeast, only a short car or train ride to Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and New York City and about an hour from the Jersey shore and the Pocono Mountains.
All applicants must have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) and have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that was accredited by APA or CPA. Licensure preferred. The Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VAMC is committed to recruiting and retaining a diverse work force including staff and trainees that represent a wide array of identities across all intersections. We value and appreciate the unique contributions and perspectives offered by individuals with diverse cultural and experiential backgrounds. As such, we are strongly devoted to representation within our staff that captures the rich dimensions of our Veterans and the Philadelphia community. Within our Psychology Service, we are seeking candidates committed to combatting systemic racism, inequity, and disparities, while elevating justice, diversity, and inclusion. We strongly welcome applicants of historically underrepresented groups and welcome all applicants dedicated to creating culturally responsive and safe spaces for Veterans and colleagues alike. This information may be indicated in the cover letter.
