ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, COMMUNITY PSYCHOLOGY. The Department of Psychological Science at University of North Carolina Charlotte (https://psych.charlotte.edu/) is seeking candidates in the area of
community psychology for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin on August 15, 2025. The anticipated salary range is $81,000 – $85,000.

Required qualifications: A Ph.D. degree in Psychology, Community Psychology, Ecological Psychology, or a related field; an established program of community and/or community health-related research that can contribute effectively to our graduate programs in Community and Health Psychology; a demonstrated record of (or strong promise for) external funding for research; an ability to teach and mentor a diverse student population at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Preferred qualifications: The successful applicant will be joining a diverse group of faculty who value teaching, research, social improvement via practice, and service. Preference will be given to candidates whose research program aligns with community psychology. The successful candidate brings:
● A track record of research productivity (publications and external funding) that has engaged (or could engage) graduate and undergraduate students.
● Evidence of (or promise for) extensive community-based partnerships and collaboration across sectors and/or within the field of Community Psychology.
● Experience teaching courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels, and potential to teach courses in community psychology, applied research/program evaluation, prevention, and community interventions.
● Demonstrated ability to provide research and professional mentorship to graduate students in the Health Psychology Ph.D. Program.
● The capacity to provide service to the Community Psychology concentrations in the M.A. & Ph.D. programs, Health Psychology Ph.D. Program, Department of Psychological Science, College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences, and University.

This position will have joint teaching and research responsibilities in the Department of Psychological Science and the Health Psychology Ph.D. program. The Department of Psychological Science offers a B.S. degree, as well as M.A. degrees in general (with a community psychology concentration option) and industrial/organizational psychology. It is also the administrative home that provides substantial support to the interdisciplinary Organizational Science Ph.D. program. Department faculty and students collaborate with scholars across the university, including across the College of Humanities & Earth and Social Science as well as the College of Health and Human Services, the Belk College of Business, and the Cato College of Education. The interdisciplinary Health Psychology Program (http://healthpsych.uncc.edu) includes faculty from the departments of Psychological Science, Public Health, Communication Studies, Nursing, Applied Physiology, Health, & Clinical Sciences, and other relevant disciplines. It is comprised of three concentrations: an APA-accredited Clinical Psychology program that adheres to the scientist-practitioner training model, a Community Psychology program, and a Behavioral Science program.

The Department of Psychological Science (PSYC) is an academic community of teachers/scholars and doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate students that is engaged in advancing the discovery, dissemination, and application of knowledge in traditional areas of psychology in general and applied areas of psychology in particular. The Department of Psychological Science seeks to provide quality undergraduate education and to attain national and international recognition for research and graduate training in Health Psychology and Organizational Sciences.
