Clinical/Behavioral Medicine Adv. Assistant/Associate Professor

Anticipated Start Date: August, 2025

Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology (APA accredited) with extensive training and specialization in behavioral medicine/health psychology, and engage in scholarship, teaching (undergraduate and graduate), and mentoring that advances interdisciplinary behavioral medicine/health psychology research in health disparities and chronic disease pathogenesis, prevention, and/or intervention with adults. Multi-level (i.e., micro-to-macro) and life span developmental perspectives, and cross-track (Behavioral Medicine and Clinical) synergy are strongly encouraged. The department is interested in candidates with a dedication to diversity, equity, inclusive excellence, and anti-racism in higher education and the commitment, skills, and experience to contribute to our mission of promoting social justice and equity in psychology.

We are interested in candidates with strong potential to attract external funding, as well as contribute to the life, growth, and vitality of the department. The successful candidate will be a member of UMBC’s Ph.D. program in Human Services Psychology, which is grounded in the biopsychosocial model and includes integrative training tracks in Behavioral Medicine, Clinical Psychology (APA accredited), and Community Psychology. The department also offers an Applied Developmental Psychology Ph.D., Applied Behavior Analysis M.A., M.P.S. in 1/0 Psychology, and several other degree and certificate programs https://psychology.umbc.edu/.

UMBC is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a Doctoral University with high research activity (RU/H). It is located in the Baltimore-Washington corridor near major medical schools, NIH, and other federal agencies that afford extensive opportunities for research collaboration. UMBC offers competitive compensation.  This role starts at $82,000 (Advanced Assistant) and  $105,000 (Associate).
