For the 2025-2026 training year, we seek qualified applicants who are excited by the opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills and obtain research experience in a selection of areas that include obesity and weight loss surgery, cardiac psychology, trauma and burn surgery, internal medicine/ primary care, psycho-oncology/ palliative medicine, chronic pain management and other areas. Fellows will train in outpatient and inpatient settings (medical and psychiatric) conducting evaluation and intervention services to our rural and under-served patients within the ECU Health hospital system who present with an array of chronic medical, psychiatric and substance use conditions.
The fellowship is a 12-month, 2,080-hour program in Clinical Psychology that meets licensure requirements for independent practice. Fellows work approximately 45 hours per week, Monday through Friday, and complete an average of 20 hours per week (50%) of face-to-face direct service delivery. Fellows will receive a minimum of two hours of individual face-to-face supervision weekly and have daily interaction with faculty. They will attend the Department of Psychiatry’s Grand Rounds series and present once during the training year. They will attend campus-based, local and/or regional educational conferences (e.g., NC AHEC, NCPA, ECUHMC) or other relevant educational programs provided by other departments as appropriate. They will attend weekly didactic seminars and case conference series for psychology trainees working in academic medical settings. Diversity issues are emphasized in all training venues.
