The UCSF Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care seeks an accomplished psychologist to serve as the Director of Pain Psychology. This full-time faculty position is available at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.

The Director of Pain Psychology will lead the pain psychology program housed in the UCSF Pain Management Center, which operates under the auspices of the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care, Division of Pain Medicine. This important position requires a passionate and innovative psychologist with exceptional clinical, academic, and administrative skills –and should be a recognized leader in pain psychology. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience in multi-disciplinary care, faculty development and recruitment, scholarship, community engagement, and in training the next generation of leaders in pain psychology and pain medicine.

Responsibilities for the Director of Pain Psychology will include the following:

Foster a high standard of pain psychology care at the UCSF Pain Management Center.
Foster innovative new pain psychology care models, within the department and in collaboration with other departments.
Foster clinical research in pain psychology among faculty working at the UCSF Pain Management Center and broadly within the Department of Anesthesia & Perioperative Care.
Mentor junior pain psychology faculty within the practice and foster retention of existing faculty.
Foster educational programs for trainees in pain psychology and pain medicine
Collaborate on all of the above with the Medical Director, nursing manager, administrative director of the Pain Management Center as well as the Division Chief of Pain Medicine in the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care About UCSF Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care.

The successful candidate must meet all the following qualifications by time of hire:

PhD in Psychology.
Completion of postdoctoral training in health psychology, with a preference for an APA-accredited clinical fellowship in pain psychology.
Licensed to practice in California.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $112,500 – $297,200. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. The total negotiated salary for this position will include the base salary plus the negotiated component, determined at the time of offer.
