We have an abundance of opportunities for the Clinician-Educator. We have a consistent stream of UAB graduate students from the APA accredited Medical/Clinical Psychology doctoral program looking for clinical experiences as well as service opportunities on their training committees. We also teach PM&R medical residents in the clinic and at bedside. Didactic lecture opportunities abound as we frequently lecture PM&R, Psychiatry residents, Dental students as well as our own psychology focused trainees across UAB and the Birmingham VA Medical Center internship program.

Although all faculty participate in the academy, the Clinician-Scientist is also encouraged to apply. UAB PM&R serves a site for both SCI and TBI Model Systems and is the data coordinating center for SCI Model Systems. We have close relationships with researchers across UAB such as in Health Professions and Psychology. Birmingham is also home to the world-renowned Lakeshore Foundation which also has opportunity for collaboration.

UAB continues to receive accolades as a leading employer in the nation, including being named among Best-In-State Large Employers in 2023 and America’s No. 1 Best Large Employer in 2021 by Forbes.
