The Department of Psychological Science in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology to start in August 2025. This is a standard nine-month faculty appointment with a competitive startup package. Candidates must have a program of research focused on behavioral approaches to addressing health inequities in marginalized and underserved populations. Candidates must further have a demonstrated commitment to institutional belonging efforts. The person hired for this position will be affiliated with—and play an integral role in the development of—a new Center for Community-Engaged Health Equity Research. We prefer candidates whose research focuses on mental health equities and who use participatory action research or other methods that engage community collaborators. We also prefer candidates with a demonstrated potential to obtain extramural funding and who have obtained a Ph.D. from an APA-accredited health service psychology program (e.g., clinical, counseling, school, or combined program). At minimum, the person hired for this position will have: (1) a Ph.D. in psychology or closely related field (e.g., human development; public health) from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the start of appointment; (2) an active research agenda in the area of health disparities and/or treatment equities; (3) evidence of scholarly productivity as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals; and (4) an ability to contribute to the department’s teaching mission in both graduate training and undergraduate instruction in psychological science, including seminar courses in the person’s area(s) of expertise.
