The Department of Psychiatry collaborates closely with a broad range of clinical departments at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) to provide integrated behavioral health care in primary and specialty medical settings. Our department is committed to hiring a clinical, counseling, health, or rehabilitation psychologist with competencies to provide clinical services as part of an interdisciplinary team, in the Burn and Frostbite Center, University of Colorado Hospital (UCH). This position is primarily on the outpatient Burn and Frostbite unit, with a small portion of care provided by inpatient. The psychologist will attend the team’s multidisciplinary team rounds on a weekly basis.
The psychologist recruited for this full-time position will become part of the Department of Psychiatry’s growing and dynamic Adult Division. This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide the full range of psychological screening, assessment, psychosocial & behavioral interventions (e.g., individual, group, family), to patients in the outpatient Burn and Frost Bite Center with histories of self-harm, addiction, mental health conditions, and prior trauma as well as individuals now at increased risk for depression, PTSD, diminished body image and sexual health as well as relational, financial and other challenges.
Carry out seamless integration with the inpatient and consultation-liaison psychiatry services, providing services for in-patients with long-term stays (e.g., longer than 1 month) as identified by the team.
Work with the inpatient discharge planning team to transition interested patients into outpatient clinical care in the Burn and Frostbite Center.
Consult and collaborate with Burn and Frost Bite interprofessional team members to develop intervention strategies related to physical and psychosocial challenges.
Participate in relevant outpatient Burn and Frost Bite Center quality improvement projects.
Participate in training of all levels of psychology trainees (externs, interns, and postdoctoral fellows) as well as Residents and Fellows in the specialty clinical Departments.
Demonstrate sensitivity to the special needs of all patients, families, and colleagues with respect to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, gender, gender identity, ability status, religion, political beliefs, socioeconomic status, and any other factors related to systemic oppression.
