Acute / Inpatient Care (1 position): The successful candidate will provide supervised clinical care and research with an emphasis on providing acute mental health care to adolescents experiencing psychiatric crises. The fellow provides clinical care on the Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Inpatient Unit, including the Rapid Stabilization Pathway – a 3-4 day, ACT focused intervention for teens admitted with suicide risk and their families. The fellow also provides care as a member of the Consultation/Liaison Team focused on patients with mental health needs admitted to pediatric medical floors, and within the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP), a regional psychiatric emergency service. The fellow works closely with a multi-disciplinary team consisting of psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, and mental health therapists in a fast- paced environment. The role of the fellow will include 1) providing acute, intensive treatment to children and families with the goal of crisis stabilization, and 2) program development and evaluation in acute services, as part of a mentored scholarly project.
Additional responsibilities for all fellows include participation in didactics and at least 2 hours of weekly supervision. Fellows may also provide clinical supervision of junior trainees and multidisciplinary clinical staff. Fellowship is designed so that fellows can pursue careers in patient care, teaching, scientific research, and administration. All fellows participate in clinical research according to their career goals.
Opportunities for advanced clinical and research training will be provided primarily within:
Child & Adolescent Acute Services at Strong Memorial Hospital / Golisano Children’s Hospital, including the multi-disciplinary Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Inpatient Unit, the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP), and the pediatric floors of the Golisano Children’s Hospital. These regional services provide care to diverse urban, suburban, and rural populations.
We are particularly interested in candidates with clinical and research interests and experiences in one or more of the following areas: patients with medical comorbidities, integrated primary care, integrated pediatric medical specialty care, acute inpatient care and program development, expanded school mental health, and behavioral health workforce education in evidence-based approaches.

REQUIRED: Successful completion of an APA accredited doctorate and APA accredited internship program in clinical, counseling, or school psychology.
