The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of Utah School of Medicine and Craig H. Neilsen Rehabilitation Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah is seeking a rehabilitation or health psychologist for a full-time faculty position. The University of Utah serves patients from a multi-state region with a Level 1 trauma center. The 75-bed Craig H. Neilsen Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH) is one of the most advanced rehabilitation facilities in the nation. We are looking for energetic, academically-oriented psychologists who will help us expand our footprint regionally and nationally. Duties will include maintaining a strong clinical practice involving evaluation and treatment services to rehabilitation patients, primarily on an inpatient basis at NRH with some dedicated outpatient time as well. We anticipate at least half of clinical time will take place on an inpatient basis. We are hoping for candidates with a specialty interest in spinal cord injury (SCI) and/or stroke although anticipate opportunities to work with a broad spectrum of conditions and presenting concerns. Our PM&R Psychology Section works with individuals living with a variety of rehabilitation and chronic health conditions, including SCI, traumatic brain injury (TBI), stroke, amputation, complex medical (e.g., debility from prolonged hospital stays, cancer, burn injuries, other complications), obesity, and spine/musculoskeletal/orthopedic or other pain concerns. Our psychologists are fully integrated and work collaboratively with physiatrists, PT/OT/SLP, and other specialists on our inpatient teams. Our outpatient clinic offers individual and group psychotherapy as well as comprehensive psychological assessments.  As a faculty member, the psychologist would be expected to support the research, educational, service, and leadership goals of the University of Utah’s School of Medicine.  Education requirements for this position include completion of a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited graduate school program, completion of a one-year internship at an APA-accredited program, and completion of a one or two-year postdoctoral fellowship in rehabilitation, health, or neuropsychology. Applicants already board-certified, or eligible to apply for board certification, in health, rehabilitation, or neuropsychology are preferred.
