The Department of Psychiatry & Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine is now accepting applications for a 1-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Health Psychology. The fellowship offers advanced specialty training and prepares fellows for careers in clinical health psychology.
The fellowship consists of clinical activities, didactics, professional development, research, teaching, and supervision. Clinical experiences are individualized to meet the specific training goals of each fellow. They typically consist of either one or two specialty inpatient or outpatient rotation(s) and outpatient work in the UVA Behavioral Medicine Center. Within the outpatient Behavioral Medicine Center, the fellow will provide psychological interventions with adults experiencing various psychiatric and medical comorbidities and conduct pre-surgical evaluations.
Specialty rotation options include:
• Bariatric Surgery
• Cystic Fibrosis
• Hematology/Oncology
• Consultation/Liaison
• Pediatrics
• Solid Organ Transplant
• Research Intensive
Additional research, and teaching opportunities are available. There may also be opportunities to supervise psychology graduate students and psychiatry residents in providing therapy. Fellows have a half day per week for professional development activities. A second year of fellowship may be negotiated based on fellow interest and performance. Eligibility Requirements: (1) Completion of APA-accredited doctoral program (PhD/PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology; (2) Completion of an APA-accredited internship; (3) Health psychology experience preferred.
