SfHP Councils and Committees invite YOUR participation!  A list of councils and committees actively seeking new members is provided below.  More information about each group’s activities may be found here on our website ( Go to Councils and Committees on our home page).

Meet new colleagues and help advance the field!  Your active involvement makes the Society stronger, and our work more impactful.

The Education & Training Council is looking to bring on 1-2 new members who are interested in improving and promoting the education and training of health psychologists. Members with or without a clinical background and from all career stages are encouraged to get involved.  Contact Peggy Zoccola at

The Health Policy Council has the following leadership positions open:

• Vice Chair: Assist in council leadership

• Secretary: Send out reminders for calls, send out agendas and take notes for minutes during calls

• APA Liaison: Communicate with APA about policy briefs

• Communication/Dissemination Director: Oversee the dissemination of our work to multiple audiences, as well as someone to oversee our content experts and identifying important areas for future briefs and comments

The Health Research Council (HRC) is seeking 1-2 new members. The purpose of the HRC is to promote health psychology research, contribute to the development of future health psychology investigators, and ensure that the SfHP remains a recognized leader in health psychology research. We are particularly looking for individuals that are willing to fill one of the following roles within the HRC:

• Secretary

• Liaison to the Health Policy Council

If you would like to join the Council, please send Dr. Weinstein your most current CV and a short bio (no more than 250 words) that describes your area(s) of research expertise and the reason(s) you are interested in joining the HRC.

Membership Committee -Two new members for membership committee who are at any stage of the career. Especially interested in health psychologists who identify as African-American or Latinx and work in a setting that is NOT an academic medical setting or university.  Contact Kristin Schneider at
