Using DEI best practices from psychology pedagogy, instructors and supervisors can provide better-quality instruction while also addressing barriers in the psychology major-to-mental health workforce pipeline. In this webinar, we briefly review research demonstrating the centrality of DEI topics within sound Health Psychology curricula; provide sample assignments and activities to weave DEI into Health Psychology and other undergraduate and graduate syllabi; and discuss strategies for navigating difficult topics with students representing a range of backgrounds and experiences. From a training perspective, we review efforts at developing and implementing DEI-focused initiatives and demonstrate strategies for experiential learning and creating space for mutual reflection and conversation on DEI topics.
