VA Center for Integrated Healthcare

The VA Center for Integrated Healthcare (CIH) is pleased to announce an opening for a two-year postdoctoral position in Syracuse, NY (non-accredited). Our Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Psychology emphasizes both research (75%) and clinical training (25%) in integrated primary care and mental health integration in specialty medical settings. Training is also available for program evaluation, implementation, and clinical education activities. Our program meets New York State licensure requirements, and most fellows are eligible for licensure by the end of their first year. Former Postdoctoral Fellows have pursued careers in research, clinical administration, and implementation support activities.

Training at CIH is designed to produce outstanding clinical researchers and practitioners in the area of integrated care. For this recruitment cycle, we are especially seeking in applicants with interests in:

  1. Team-based care and interventions for suicide, depression, insomnia, and substance use (Mentor: Jennifer S. Funderburk, PhD)
  2. General wellness, Whole Health, and peer support staff in primary care (Mentor: Emily M. Johnson, PhD*)
  3. Brief anxiety interventions and self-help interventions (Mentor: Robyn L. Shepardson, PhD)

Secondary training and mentorship opportunities are available in the following areas:

  1. Implementation science (Mentors: Katherine M. Dollar, PhD* and Jessica Martin, PsyD*)
  2. Brief interventions for PTSD (Mentor: Kyle Possemato, PhD)

Bios are available on the VA Center for Integrated Healthcare website. Mentors with stars have active program evaluation, implementation, or clinical education projects available for Fellows to work on.

Two years of training support are provided by the Office of Academic Affiliations as part of VA’s prestigious Advanced Fellowship Program in Mental Illness Research and Treatment (MIRECC), with a competitive third year of funding possible for those fellows who desire additional advanced training. In addition to VA’s generous benefits package, we also provide internal support for conferences and competitive pilot grant funding. Flexible start dates are available beginning in summer 2024 (July-September). Applicants from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Prospective applicants must be U.S. Citizens, and have completed doctoral degree requirements from an APA, CPA, orPCSAS-accredited program in clinical or counseling psychology, and an APA, CPA, or PCSAS-accredited pre-doctoralpsychology internship.
