Div 38 LIVE – Optimal care in eating disorder treatment

Description

Despite the extensive research that is occurring and deepening our understanding in the field of eating disorders, literature specifically relating to ethical issues encountered by clinicians treating eating disorders remains scarce. Yet, the complex interrelationship between the mental and physical symptoms of eating disorders results in pervasive ethical treatment issues. The goals of this webinar are to identify and review relevant ethical principles involved in the treatment of individuals with eating disorders; describe how specific competing ethical principles complicate ethical decision-making in the treatment of eating disorders; and analyze both the potential benefit and harm of using coercive treatment techniques in the treatment of eating disorders.
