Integrated Primary Care Interest Group
This session will discuss how psychologists embracing a single-session and functional contextualist mindset can radically transform primary care. Presenters will provide an overview of a robust primary care behavioral health service and training model. Outcome data on patient access, patient engagement, employee engagement, and primary care provider engagement will be discussed. This session is targeted for any psychologist interested in learning more about primary care and how behaviorally trained providers can support the delivery of high-quality primary care.

Learning Objectives:
- Participants will be able to analyze how functional contextualism and a single-session mindset align with the NASEM (2021) definition of high-quality primary care, shifting the focus from identifying pathology to understanding the whole person within their unique life context
- Participants will identify the essential components of a robust service model, including intentional onboarding processes and ongoing professional development strategies that facilitate the critical identity shift from “specialist” to “behaviorally trained primary care provider
- Participants will examine outcome data to understand how this integrated approach impacts population reach (penetration rates), enhances patient engagement, and fosters professional joy and sustainability for both primary care providers and behavioral health consultants
