2022 Fall, From the editor's desk, The Health Psychologist

I would like to introduce myself as I have been graciously passed the baton from Dr. Val Martinez-Kaigi, who has wonderfully served as the Editor in Chief for the past three years. Dr. Martinez-Kaigi accomplished her goal of launching the e-Zine and disseminating scholarly, inspiring, and easy to digest content. I am grateful to be able to engage in this opportunity of becoming the new Editor in Chief for The Health Psychologist.

In this Fall issue of the e-Zine, there is focus on headache disorders through two featured articles. In the Clinical Highlight column, Dr. Danielle Miro describes the differing types of headaches disorders, their prevalence, and evidence based treatments for patients with this chronic condition. Additionally, in the A Word from the Student Advisory Council column, Dr. Alexandra Ross shares her experience working with pediatric headaches and her journey to discovering her niche specialty.

Dr. Julie Radico describes how to get involved in leadership through her own experiences in The Voice of Early Career Psychologists column. Drs. Ali A. Weinstein, Allison Jane Carroll, and Amanda A. Almond demonstrates the growth of the research being conducted through the SfHP awarded graduate student research grants over the past three years in the Research Highlight Column. Lastly, our president, Dr. Ward-Zimmerman describes the power of collaborations and communication within and outside of our organization for the betterment of health psychology and health outcomes.

As the new Editor in Chief for The Health Psychologist, I am hopeful in continuing the dissemination of health psychology related information that is intriguing, pertinent, educational, and practical. The goal is to showcase relevant information in the field of health psychology and highlight works in clinical practice, program development, research, advocacy for the practice of health psychology and equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives. It is also going to be a place where SfHP members can communicate and highlight their passion for the field of Health Psychology.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at if you have any questions or an idea for a piece.
